About NestAndName

NestAndName exists because the very first step of building a website — getting a domain and hosting — is where beginners get the most confused and the most quietly overcharged. The two words sound interchangeable but aren't; the "free" domain isn't free after year one; and the domain, the part that's genuinely hard to get back, is often signed away by accident. We cut through all of that with one job: explain how a domain and hosting fit together, in plain terms, and tell you the honest cost and the honest catch before you spend anything.

What we cover — and what we don't

NestAndName is not a registrar or a hosting company, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any provider we mention. We don't sell domains or run servers. We focus on the "get both" question — domains plus web hosting for a first site — and we deliberately stay out of one neighbouring lane: website builders like Wix, Squarespace and Webflow, which are a different product from hosting and aren't what we advise on. Registrar and host names appear only to identify the companies we're writing about; their logos and trademarks belong to them.

How we research prices

Every price we publish is an advertised US rate read on a dated day (currently 2026-09-10), and we show the renewal beside the intro price because the renewal is what you actually pay year after year. Domain and hosting pricing changes constantly and is term- and region-specific, so we treat every figure as a dated starting point and tell you to check the current price before buying. We do not run our own speed or uptime tests or publish benchmarks we didn't measure; where a provider's performance matters, we frame it as advertised or cite the provider's own figures with a date. If a number goes stale, that's a bug — tell us and we'll fix it.

How we stay independent

Some links to registrars and hosts are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you sign up — at no extra cost to you. That commission never changes our advice, and we prove it with the clearest example we have: Cloudflare Registrar sells domains at cost and runs no affiliate program, and we still tell you it's the cheapest way to keep a .com long-term, even though we earn nothing by saying so.
