Privacy policy

NestAndName is a static guide site, and we collect as little as possible. We don't require an account, we don't sell data, and our only analytics tool is Google Analytics 4, with its advertising features switched off. This page explains the few places any data is involved: analytics, affiliate links, and the optional email form.

What we collect

Google Analytics 4 tells us which pages are read; the next section covers exactly what it collects and how to switch it off. If you enter your email into an alerts form, we use it only to send what you asked for and you can unsubscribe at any time; we never sell or rent it. Basic server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamp) may be recorded by our host for security and reliability, as is standard for any website.

Google Analytics

NestAndName runs Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd., to see which guides get read. It picks up pages viewed, the referring site, approximate location (city or country level), device and browser type, and session timing. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We keep advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation off, so the data isn't used for advertising and isn't sold.

Analytics uses two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last for up to two years and are only set after analytics is allowed. If you're visiting from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you'll see a banner first, and nothing is sent to Google unless you click Accept. Visitors elsewhere start with analytics on and can switch it off at any time. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, you're treated as opted out. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key analytics-consent — not in a cookie.

Use Cookie settings to reopen the banner and change your analytics choice. Google's practices are described in Google's privacy policy, and you can block Google Analytics everywhere with Google's opt-out add-on.

Affiliate links and cookies

Some outbound links to registrars and hosts are affiliate links. When you click one, the provider (or its affiliate network) may set a cookie to attribute a later signup to us, which is how we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That process is run by the provider under its own privacy policy, not by us. You can read how the commercial side works in our affiliate disclosure. You're free to clear cookies or visit any provider directly instead of through our links.

Your choices and contact

You can browse NestAndName without an account or an email address, switch analytics off whenever you like, and ask us to delete any email you've shared by writing to [email protected]. If this policy changes, we'll update it here with a new date. Questions about your data are welcome at the same address. Last updated October 9, 2026.
